While watching Tangled to bring in the new year…
A friend and I get together each new year’s eve and watch an old Disney movie from 11:00 pm on. This year, we decided to spice things up and watch what has become our new favorite Disney movie: Tangled.
My DVD version has an English with Descriptive Video Service option. I was curious what that was like, so we chose it.
Basically, the usual Disney narrator guy tells what’s going on in the scenes, but without interrupting dialogue. It’s actually super awesome. It’s like listening to an audiobook version of the movie while watching a video of it.
We decided to watch the rest of the movie in DVS, and now I think it’d be strange to watch it without it. It’s just that awesome.
There are several parts of his narration that are pretty amusing. During the scene where the little girls braid Rapunzel’s hair, however, it cracked us up by saying the following:
As Eugene admires her, Maximus teasingly lifts his eyebrows as if to say “Hubba hubba!”
Also, when she’s pulling people in to dance, first, she “grabs a boys hands and pulls him along.” But the next line was pretty funny to us. “Next, she grabs a grown-up.”
I think I want to see what other Disney movies have this option, because it makes them awesome, and sometimes hilarious. I think I’ll be adding more if he says any others. C:
